Three-Year PGWP Approved After a Part-Time Semester

After completing a Canadian university degree, this international graduate was ready to take the next step and apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit. But there was one part of the academic record that caused real concern.

During one semester, the student had taken only a single course and was considered part-time. With plans to work and build a future in Canada depending on the PGWP, the uncertainty around that semester was difficult to ignore.

The client came to Verge Immigration looking for a clear and honest way forward. Our team reviewed the complete academic history and prepared the PGWP application with careful attention to the part-time semester. We did not try to hide or minimize what appeared on the record. The application presented the student's circumstances directly and accurately to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Once the application was submitted, the client had to wait for IRCC's decision. The question remained the same throughout that wait: would the part-time semester prevent the graduate from receiving the work permit needed to begin a career in Canada?

Then the good news arrived. IRCC approved the application and issued a Post-Graduation Work Permit valid for three years.

For the client, the approval meant much more than receiving another immigration document. It brought relief after weeks of uncertainty and opened the door to gaining Canadian work experience, starting a career, and moving forward with life in Canada.

We were grateful to help this graduate present the academic history clearly and reach such a positive outcome.

If your own study history includes a part-time semester, a gap, or another complication, it is understandable to feel unsure about your PGWP application. Every case depends on its complete facts, and this client's result does not guarantee that another application will have the same outcome.
