YUKON NOMINEE PROGRAM (YNP)
&
ABOUT &Yukon
Yukon is one of Canada’s most unique and opportunity-rich territories, known for its breathtaking nature, rapidly growing communities, and strong demand for skilled workers. With a small population and a fast-expanding labour market, Yukon actively welcomes newcomers who can help support local industries and build long-term careers in the North.
For individuals seeking permanent residence, the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) provides a direct, employer-driven immigration pathway designed to match real labour shortages with qualified foreign workers. Successful applicants not only receive a job opportunity in one of Canada’s most beautiful regions, but also a clear route toward Canadian permanent residency.
Whether you are a skilled professional, a semi-skilled worker, or an Express Entry candidate, Yukon offers flexible immigration pathways and strong provincial support. At Verge Immigration, our licensed RCIC-IRB consultants are here to guide you step-by-step—from securing a job offer to preparing your nomination and PR application—ensuring a smooth and successful journey to Yukon.
WHAT IS YUKON NOMINEE PROGRAM (YNP)?
The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) is the territory’s official immigration system that allows Yukon to select and nominate qualified foreign workers for Canadian permanent residence. It is an employer-driven program, meaning applicants cannot apply on their own—only a Yukon employer can nominate a worker to fill a real labour-market need.
YNP is designed to help employers address ongoing shortages across key industries such as tourism, construction, transportation, health care, retail, hospitality, and trades. When a Yukon employer cannot find a suitable Canadian or permanent resident for a position, they may hire a foreign worker through one of the YNP streams.
Once nominated, applicants receive a pathway to permanent residence through IRCC, along with the option to obtain a temporary work permit and begin working in Yukon while their PR is being processed.
The YNP is divided into three main worker streams, each based on the NOC TEER level of the job:
Critical Impact Worker Stream – for entry-level and semi-skilled positions (TEER 4–5)
Skilled Worker Stream – for professional, technical, and supervisory roles (TEER 0–3)
Yukon Express Entry Stream – for candidates already in the Express Entry pool with a TEER 0–3 job offer
The program ensures that workers have a genuine job offer, meet the required language and experience standards, and intend to settle permanently in Yukon. For employers, YNP provides a reliable way to build a long-term workforce and support business growth in the territory.
At Verge Immigration, we specialize in preparing strong YNP applications, guiding both applicants and employers through recruitment steps, documentation, and nomination stages to maximize approval success.
IN-DEMAND OCCUPATIONS IN YUKON
Yukon has a small but rapidly growing labour market, which creates continuous demand for skilled and semi-skilled workers across multiple industries. Employers often struggle to find local talent, especially for year-round positions in tourism, trades, transportation, health care, retail, and service sectors. Because of this, many occupations across TEER 0–5 are considered in demand for the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP).
Below is an overview of the most commonly recruited sectors and examples of occupations that frequently appear under YNP job offers.
1. Tourism, Hospitality & Service Industry
Yukon’s tourism sector is one of the territory’s largest employers, creating strong demand throughout the year.
Examples of in-demand roles:
Restaurant supervisors
Food and beverage servers
Cooks and kitchen helpers
Housekeepers and hotel attendants
Front desk agents
Retail sales workers
Cashiers
Customer service representatives
These positions often fall under TEER 4–5, making them eligible under the Critical Impact Worker Stream.

With Yukon’s ongoing development projects, trades and construction roles are consistently needed.
Examples of in-demand roles:

Electricians
Plumbers
Heavy equipment operators

Examples of in-demand roles:
Long haul truck drivers
Delivery drivers
Warehouse workers
Logistics coordinators
Freight supervisors
Truck driving roles are especially high-demand and frequently supported by employers.
4. Health Care & Community Support
As Yukon expands its services for residents and rural communities, health-related occupations remain high priority.
Examples of in-demand roles:
Licensed practical nurses
Continuing care assistants
Personal support workers
Medical office assistants
Community support workers
Most fall under TEER 3–4.
5. Retail, Administration & Customer Service
Year-round demand exists in both entry-level and skilled administrative roles.
Examples of in-demand roles:
Administrative assistants
Office coordinators
Bookkeepers
Retail supervisors
Store managers
Depending on the role, these can fall under TEER 2–4.

As Yukon modernizes its public and private sectors, skilled professionals in tech and business are increasingly sought after.
Examples of in-demand roles:
IT support technicians
Software developers
Network administrators
Project coordinators
Accounting technicians
HR professionals
These roles usually fall under TEER 1–2, often qualifying for the Skilled Worker or Express Entry streams.
STREAMS UNDER THE YUKON NOMINEE PROGRAM (YNP)
The Yukon Nominee Program offers three employer-driven immigration streams for foreign workers. Each stream is connected to the NOC TEER level of the job offer and has specific requirements for both the worker and the employer. Below is a detailed breakdown of each stream to help applicants understand which pathway they belong to.
