When a student loses their status in Canada, it can be incredibly stressful — especially when a restoration application gets refused. But sometimes, a refusal isn’t the end of the road. With the right support and a well-prepared case, it’s possible to turn things around. That’s exactly what happened for one of our clients.
The Challenge: Restoration of Status as a Student Refused Unreasonably
Our client had applied to restore his status as a student in Canada. Unfortunately, the application was refused. The decision didn’t reflect the full picture and seemed unreasonable based on the documents and explanation provided. Understandably, the client was upset and unsure of what to do next.
What We Did: A Strong Reconsideration Request the Same Day
Instead of reapplying or giving up, we acted fast and submitted a request for reconsideration. We carefully reviewed the officer’s decision and put together a strong submission that:
- Highlighted the errors in the refusal;
- Clarified the client’s study history and intentions;
- Included all relevant documents and a clear timeline;
- Referred to IRCC policy and past decisions.
We submitted this reconsideration request on March 06 itself, wasting no time in making sure everything was clear, respectful, and backed by facts.
The Result: Approved in Less Than 3 Weeks
The approach for the case worked. The application was re-opened, and within just three weeks, the decision was reversed. Our client received an approval letter on March 26, 2025, restoring his status as a student in Canada. A process that usually takes months was resolved in less than one months time — all because of a well-prepared reconsideration request.
A Message to Other Students in the Same Boat
If your study permit or restoration application has been refused, know that you still have options. A refusal doesn’t always mean your case is over. In some cases, a reconsideration request — when properly written — can change everything.
It’s important to act quickly, understand the refusal, and get help from someone who knows the system.
