ABOUT &NOVA SCOTIA
Located on Canada’s Atlantic coast, Nova Scotia is known for its stunning seaside landscapes, rich history, and welcoming communities. The province offers a high quality of life, affordable housing, and an economy supported by healthcare, education, fisheries, information technology, and tourism. Halifax — Nova Scotia’s capital — is one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, attracting both international talent and global investors.
Nova Scotia is recognized for its strong focus on community and work-life balance, making it an ideal destination for newcomers who value both career growth and coastal living. Through the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP), the province actively invites skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and graduates to build their future in one of Canada’s most livable regions.
WHAT IS THE NOVA SCOTIA NOMINEE PROGRAM (NSNP)
The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is an immigration pathway that allows the province of Nova Scotia to nominate skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs for Canadian permanent residence. The program is designed to attract individuals who have the right skills and work experience to meet Nova Scotia’s labour market demands and help strengthen its economy.
Through the NSNP, Nova Scotia collaborates with the Government of Canada to identify applicants who can fill critical shortages in key industries such as healthcare, education, IT, and trades. Once nominated by the province, successful candidates can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.
The NSNP is known for its flexibility and inclusiveness — offering several immigration streams for both those already working in Nova Scotia and those applying from abroad. At Verge Immigration, our licensed consultant helps you determine the best NSNP stream for your profile, prepare a strong application, and guide you step-by-step through the nomination and PR process.
IN-DEMAND OCCUPATIONS IN NOVA SCOTIA
The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) prioritizes applicants whose skills match the province’s current and future labour needs. Nova Scotia has a growing demand for professionals in healthcare, technology, transportation, and skilled trades — making it an attractive destination for newcomers seeking stable, long-term employment.
Here are some of the most in-demand occupations under the NSNP and Nova Scotia PNP streams:
Healthcare and Social Services – Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, continuing care assistants, physicians, and medical lab technologists.
Information Technology – Software developers, data analysts, network administrators, and cybersecurity professionals.
Education and Early Childhood Care – Teachers, early childhood educators, and school assistants.
Hospitality and Tourism – Food service supervisors, cooks, restaurant managers, and accommodation attendants.
Transportation and Logistics – Truck drivers, heavy-equipment operators, and dispatchers.
Skilled Trades and Construction – Carpenters, electricians, welders, plumbers, and general labourers.
Finance and Business Services – Accountants, payroll clerks, and office administrators.
Nova Scotia regularly updates its Occupation In-Demand List based on employer needs and economic conditions. Applicants whose experience falls within these sectors have a higher chance of selection under the Skilled Worker Stream, Occupations in Demand Stream, or Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream.
At Verge Immigration, we help you identify whether your NOC/TEER code is currently listed as in demand, guide you through eligibility verification, and ensure your NSNP application is aligned with the province’s latest requirements.
