FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER
&

federal skilled worker - it occupations

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program is one of the three main immigration pathways managed under Canada’s Express Entry system. It was created to attract talented professionals from around the world who have valuable foreign work experience and the skills needed to strengthen Canada’s economy.

This program is ideal for individuals living outside Canada or those already in Canada who may not have recent Canadian work experience but possess strong educational backgrounds and international expertise. The FSW stream uses a points-based selection system to assess your eligibility based on key factors such as education, language proficiency, work history, age, and adaptability.

Successful applicants through this program can obtain Canadian Permanent Residence, which grants the right to live, work, and study anywhere in the country. As permanent residents, you and your family can access public healthcare, social benefits, and a clear pathway to Canadian citizenship after meeting residency requirements.

To qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Education: Either a Canadian post-secondary credential or a foreign credential supported by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from an IRCC-approved organization (such as WES, ICES, IQAS, or CES).
Proof of Funds: You must demonstrate enough settlement funds to support yourself and your family after arriving in Canada, unless you already have a valid job offer or are authorized to work in Canada.
Selection Factors: Score at least 67 out of 100 points on the FSW selection grid, which evaluates:
– Age
– Education
– Work experience
– Language proficiency
– Valid job offer
– Adaptability (such as previous study or relatives in Canada)
